Chinawhite, the infamous veteran nightclub, long popular with a celebrity crowd, moved to its Fitzrovia location on Winsley Street back in 2009 and has gone through a number of guises over the years. The new club concept – the work of entrepreneur Hootan Ahmadi – goes by the name of Libertine and sees the club spread across three distinctive areas. The new rock ‘n’ roll chic design nods to the venue’s considerable history and reputation. The interior is suitably opulent and stylish, infused with purple light, with comfy banquettes and various private nooks. The club alsos include an experimental cocktail bar called ‘Reason and Mankind’ which from 5pm each evening will serve clubbers with on trend molecular cocktails. The whole package is intended to be “fashionable without being pretentious” and to create a memorable clubbing experience for all concerned. The door policy is still pretty strict though so don’t expect to waltz straight in.
