From the moment you spot the grand gilded entrance to Benares, you know you are in for a special dining experience. Yes, this dazzling restaurant and bar headed up by a twice-Michelin-starred chef is truly like nothing else in London, but did you know they also knock it out of the park on cocktails? Neither did we, but now we just can’t stop talking about them.
As expected, the culinary side of Benares is magnificent, as the playful mixing of flavors from India and Britain will have your head spinning with pleasure and your senses dancing with delight. We also love that they aren’t afraid to have a little fun, which is on full display in their ‘street food’ menu.
When it comes time to pair your plate with a cocktail (and if you’re like us, it will come rather quickly), Benares presents a set that also blends the flavor of the East with those of the East End. The Passion Fruit Chutney Martini is a prime example, made with premium vodka, homemade passion fruit chutney, fresh lemon juice, sugar and a splash of passion fruit juice. Other tipples that send your taste buds travelling are the Mumbai Martini (premium vodka muddled with ginger and curry leaves, fresh root ginger, lemon juice and sugar) and a spiked Pineapple & Coconut Lassi.
