- Night Out
May 11, 2018
Opening in late 2015 on Berkeley Street, right in smack bang in the middle of Mayfair and conveniently located for a post Novikov night on the (no doubt expensive) tiles, Charlie – part of the London Hospitality Group portfolio, the people behind the Toy Room and Project – occupies the spot of the former Funky Buddha, itself a major nightlife destination. Inspired by the life of Charlie Chaplin – his face adorns the walls – it’s a typically swish spot, with lush leather banquettes, a striking monochrome floor and a top class sound system. The members’ nightclub has acquired a well-heeled following and regularly plays host to DJs of international renown. The bartenders can make an excellent cocktail, there’s a glamorous 1920s-inspired vibe to the place and the atmosphere is fittingly discreet yet exclusive, as you’d expect from a Mayfair venue with a celebrity clientele.
