Mayfair Pizza Co.
May 11, 2018
Located down a beautiful courtyard just behind New Bond Street in the heart of Mayfair, the pizza restaurant is the brainchild of James Robson, the owner of neighbouring brasserie Mews of Mayfair.
The site, formerly Rocket, is a light, bright room with plush red seats and an ever so slightly nineties vibe – no Edison bulbs or raw concrete here.
Crucially it’s very reasonably priced for the area and serves Prosecco on tap, something which never ceases to make us happy.
Italian style pizzas are well made with a Caprina, goat’s cheese, pepper and rocket proving a light summery choice, and a Salami, Palma Ham and Chorizo option catering to those with more carnivorous taste.
Starters were generously portioned and well made, particularly a batch of squid, perfectly-fried if slightly inaccessibly served in a paper cone.
As well as a few elegant aperitifs and the fizz on tap, and a compact mostly Italian wine list, including a selection of magnums, an espresso martini was a bit cloying but everything else hit the spot.
Staff are keen and there’s seating out in the charming courtyard below for evenings when the weather behaves itself.
