North Audley Cantine

The North Audley Cantine – or N.A.C as it styles itself is a hip new restaurant and cocktail joint with a swanky Mayfair address which serves tasty small plates to the city’s pretty people. The split-level space boasts a basement cocktail lounge and an upstairs dining room and mezzanine. The brainchild of friends David Bellaiche, Gabriel Cohen-Elia and Jeremy Coste, the latter of which trained at the famed Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, the venue serves French small plates with a dash of Brazilian influence thrown into the mix. The dining room is very pretty indeed with whitewashed walls mixed with bare brick, warm wood and brown leather sofas. The downstairs lounge is a dash more Soho than you might expect from a venue in this part of town with a slight industrial edge to the décor and cool music in the background. Sharing plates include tuna niçoise salad bites and panko-crusted cod goujons, while heartier dishes include rich pork belly served with parsley puree and onion crumble and seared scallops plated with roasted butternut squash. These guys know a thing or two about pastry too so be sure to save room for dessert. The drinks are also pretty nifty, you’ll be glad to hear, and, what with them being French, the wine is fine.
