Radio Rooftop Bar

The London branch of international luxury hotel chain ME, located on The Strand, is the latest addition to the city’s evolving five star hotel scene – and it’s something of a stunner. The plush hotel already has two distinct dining spaces, in the glamorous yet supposedly ‘rustic’ NYC import Cucina Asellina, specialising in Italian home-style cooking and the ‘female-friendly’ (their words) steak and cocktail spot STK, which serves pricey slabs of cow to a predominantly suited crowd.
The latest venue to be opened at the hotel, Radio, takes its name from Marconi, whose company once occupied the site. It’s a striking, glass-walled bar with stylish, white curved seating very Ibiza beach bar and a sweeping heated terrace that allows you to soak up view both to the north and south, thus encompassing most of London’s major landmarks, from St. Paul’s Cathedral to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, to the gleaming, cloud-piercing Shard.
The bar stocks a wide selection of premium spirits, with cocktails relatively reasonably priced for a hotel bar of this calibre. The potent, cranberry-laced Mile High Margarita is an aptly titled treat and the champagne-topped Electric Light Company makes a suitably glamorous tipple. It’s likely to get rammed on sunny evenings, with very good reason, so booking is advisable if you want to really revel in those views.
