There are other jazz clubs in London but Ronnie Scott’s is the most famous by a mile. The name alone conjures images of smoky evenings nestled at little tables listening to smoky music. The venue attracts big names and is paradise for serious jazz nuts, though it’s not that exclusive that the musically curious will be put off the entrance fee however errs on the steep side, reflecting the quality of the acts. Drinks are run of the mill and the food fills a hole rather than wows (and is, to be fair, hugely better than it used to be), but they’re not the point of this place. Ronnie Scott’s is, and always has been, all about the music. A Soho institution.
