    About The Palomar

    1400 3260

Unexpectedly located on the Chinatown side of Shaftesbury Avenue is one of the most intriguing new restaurants to open in London for a while. The Palomar is a hip, fashionable Israeli restaurant owned by the DJ Layo Paskin, (the man behind the popular club The End, now no more) in collaboration with chefs Assaf Granit, Yossi Elad and Uri Navon from Jerusalem’s famous Machneyuda restaurant.

The space is split into a lively bar area for a walk-ins and a more formal dining room which you can book. If you can score a seat at the bar this is your best bet; from here you can watch the chefs in the open kitchen at work.

Start with a cocktail. The house tipple is a mix of Calle 23 Blanco Tequila, pink grapefruit, lime juice, agave syrup, and grapefruit bitters, topped with soda water, while the Black Spice blends rye, Lustau PX Sherry, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao, Fernet Branca and black pepper tincture.
Read More Small plates include some divinely creamy polenta – a must-order - and the octopus and chickpea salad of your dreams (well, our dreams anyway). Bigger dishes include Persian Oxtail Stew and a distinctly non-kosher Pork Belly Tagine. There’s also a raw bar and you’d be wise not to ignore their salads, complex and fresh and memorable assemblies. Prices are very reasonable given the quality and it’s already proving popular, deservedly so.
