Bermondsey Street has, over a short space of time, become something of a foodie destination. First there was Zucca, then there was Jose, a Madrid-style tapas and sherry spot, and now there’s Pizarro. Jose Pizarro’s second eponymous effort is far more spacious and has more available tables, so you can sit down to eat instead of perching. The food is of the same superb standard – melting Secreto Iberico, divine ham croquetas though the plates are larger and the menu longer. The wine list boasts a great selection of sherries and Spanish wines, and there’s even a dedicated cava bar with 15 different varieties available by the bottle. There’s a no-reservation policy, so you may have to wait for a table, but with a glass of cava in hand we doubt this will feel like a hardship.
