London-South East London

Rumpus Room is about as classy as a hotel bar can be. Not only does it boast a fantastic rooftop location on the 12th floor of the Mondrian London at Sea Containers (which also equals wonderful views over the Thames), it also happens to be decked out in a sumptuous collection of leather and velvet in tones of red and maroon. And that’s not even to mention the lighting – from the atmospheric low light that seeps through the bar as night falls, to the flickering candles dotted in and amongst, to the futuristic chandelier-style light fixture that takes centre stage – it’s a multi-faceted marvel.
Rumpus Room’s drinks menu is large, but only contains twelve cocktails – four champagne-based, four classics and four punches. Aside from the time-honoured Kir Royale, the champagne cocktails are all unique – such as the Big Kid Fizzy Float (white rum, split cream syrup, citrus and champagne). The punches can either be made for one person or eight (there’s no in-between, so choose wisely if you’re a small group), with our favorite being the Pillsbury (pear vodka, sesame, pineapple, citrus). As you would expect from a venue of this calibre, all of the cocktails are made with premium spirits, a vast selection of which can be ordered separately from the menu, or muddled into your own personal concoction. When it comes to food, Rumpus Room serves up small plates and finger food with the same zeal and flavour as the drinks. Choose from roasted Irish rock oysters, an artisanal cheese plate, gougere puffs, truffle hot dog and more.
