Part of bustling Brixton Village, Senzala is a laid back bar and creprie, colourful and continental in both décor and character. Inside there’s a tiny kitchen area and a collision of mismatched tables and chairs, with seating like all the venues in the Village spilling out into the market. Senzala is one of the few spots in the Village with pavement heaters which makes it particularly good on nippier evenings. They serve a range of fresh and tasty galettes and crepes, both sweet and savoury, with an appealingly large selection of vegetarian and vegan options (the squash, pepper and almond is our current favourite) as well as a range of tapas style snacks. Be sure to sample some of the home-made chilli sauce, as it’s zingy, brilliant stuff. By day it has a casual café vibe but it comes into its own in the evening. They serve a good range of classic cocktails as well as Breton cider and wine. Glassware is weighty and vintage and their Happy Hour lives up to its name. Their Bloody Mary will definitely pick you up in the morning and their coffee is a cut above too.
