The Pearson Room
London-South East London

With its floor-to-ceiling glass windows, it’s hard to find a better view of bustling Canary Wharf than at The Pearson Room. With both a logo and interior decor inspired by the style of ‘50s Hitchcock, The Pearson Room is seemingly cut down the middle; comfy lounge with suede seats for sinking into, bookshelves and oversized light shades on one side, bistro-style dining room with wooden high-back chairs and hanging filament lightbulbs on the other. It all creates an atmosphere of invitation and relaxation.
The food menu at The Pearson Room is an international affair (you can literally travel the world from your seat with their rösti, Thai green curry, jerk chicken and New York cheesecake), yet all of the ingredients are sourced locally. They pride themselves on being able to deliver speedy service, perfect for those workers who’ve slipped in for a quick business lunch. The cocktail list is extensive, and includes all manner of modern classics, shooters and sweet-as-candy dessert drinks. You could do worse than to order the Fig Fizz (premium vodka mixed with fig puree, fresh lemon juice and vanilla syrup, then topped up with blackcurrant liqueur and prosecco) or the Tangerine Dream (grapefruit vodka, dry sherry, fresh mandarin & lemon juices and honey water), but don’t skip the shooters menu, as it isn’t your typical lurid collection of high-alcohol teeth-rattlers, instead featuring unique delights like the Beluga & Caviar (chilled vodka served with a spoonful of caviar). Wine connoisseurs are sure to be impressed by The Pearson Room’s compendium of international wines and champagne, but the bar also ingratiates itself with the non-drinkers with an impressive selection of juices, smoothies and mocktails.
