London-South West London

Located under the railway arches at Clapham North, Fu Manchu bar is a cool little place specialising in dim-Sum and cocktails. While dim sum are traditionally day time eats, increasingly in London they’re being paired with cocktails and it’s easy to see why. These tiny tasty packages are great for snacking while sipping. Fu Manchu with its vaulted ceiling and latticed woodwork is an attractive place. Along with the new branch of Dirty Martini this stretch of Clapham High Street is slowly evolving a livelier bar scene of late. Cocktails have an Asian flavour and include the Mai Chai, a spiced take on the Mai Tai and the citrusy Yuzu-zu made with yuzu tea paste. We like the sound of the Green Tea-ni, made with matcha powder, and the light and refreshing Smith’s Summer Spritz made zingy with lime leaves. Tsing Tao and Lucky Buddha beers are available. The dim sum menu includes all the classics – har gau, char sui bao, turnip cakes, egg tarts, and salt and pepper squid – alongside some premium options like lobster har gau and monkfish dumplings. Expect music and a livelier vibe on weekends.
