This welcome recent addition to Clapham High Street is a Peruvian-Japanese fusion joint serving great drinks and more inventive food than you typically find in this neck of the woods. Occupying a large corner premises, it sets itself apart from other bars in the area, offering something genuinely different, from distinctive and unusual beers, including citrusy Belgian brew Kagua, and a range of inventive and well-made cocktails. The Fuji Rocks is a blend of Japanese Whisky, Crème de Cacao, Blood Orange, and Bitters, while the Inca Gold melds Gold Rum, Watermelon, Lime, Orange Bitters, and Soda. It goes without saying they do a top notch Pisco Sour. The food menu includes grilled things and as well as sushi. Japanese food is hugely popular in Peru so the idea of mixing the two makes sense. Small plates include seared tuna with truffle oil, daikon and herb sprouts, miso-glazed turbot, octopus with purple potatoes, and yellowtail sashimi with shiso leaf. Cassava and aubergine bravas were also on point. The five dish set menu is something of a steal and they do one of the most distinctive Sunday roasts in south London.
