London-South West London

Ramen has been one of the hottest trends of the last few years, and Shoryu is hands-down one of London’s hippest spots to enjoy a bowl. In addition to steaming portions of the comforting Japanese noodles, Shoryu specializes in cocktails that complement the ramen perfectly, creating a match made in heaven. Shoryu impresses from the moment you spot it, as the exterior resembles a traditional Japanese storefront, and inside, the decor is heavy on light woods, paper lantern-inspired lighting fixtures and striking iron wall adornments. Their signature ramen is the Tonkotsu, a full-bodied 12-hour pork broth topped with savory pork belly, egg, mushrooms, spring onion, sesame, ginger, and seaweed. This is just the tip of the tasty iceberg, as each and every ramen combination, side, and plate of yakitori, yakimono and sashimi is more mouthwatering than the next. Nothing pairs better with ramen than sake, and Shoryu is home to some of the finest bottles in all of London, all curated by their own ‘sake sommelier’. Lesser known Japanese spirits like shochu (a spirit distilled from sweet potato, buckwheat, rice, or barley) and umeshu (a liqueur born from steeping Japanese fruits) also are featured, in addition to Japanese whisky, beer, and a full range of unique Eastern-inspired cocktails. A couple of our favourites include the smooth Dirty Lychee, made of premium sake and lychee puree kissed by dark rum, and the refreshing Watermelon & Almond Shochu – a blend of watermelon, almond syrup, and shochu served on the rocks.
