Housed in what was once a rather incongruous outpost of the Pitcher and Piano on the more sedate end of Northcote Road, the Draft House holds a banner high for all ale aficionados. What was previously an identikit chain bar space has been given a makeover. There are vintage NME covers on the walls and a large curving bar with green wooden stools. And then there’s the beer. The Draft House sources its beer from local breweries as well as stocking the best that Europe has to offer. Unusual varieties rub shoulders with more comforting pours. There’s cider and wine too, if you want it, all sourced with similar care there’s even a lovely crisp English sparkling wine on the menu. The hearty gastro-pub grub may not quite always be up to the mark but it goes well with a pint of something soothing and amber-hued.
