Pukka Bar is an opulent drinking den nestled in London restaurant Chutney Mary.

Chutney Mary has her eye firmly on the smartest clientele with this opulent new cocktail bar. A well-established Indian restaurant, Chutney Mary recently made the move from Chelsea to Green Park to woo the West End crowd. With a menu that couldn’t be further from your standard high street curry house – boasting Cornish crab, lobster biryani and venison samosas – there’s plenty to appeal to well-seasoned spice lovers. And nestled in a quiet corner of the restaurant, the Pukka Bar offers a cosy spot to sip cocktails in jewel-coloured splendour. Colourful South East Asian artwork glows from the walls, star-patterned tiles adorn the floor, and small tables are perfect for an intimate tete-a-tete. There’s an Anglo-Indian spin to its cocktail list, with sun-soaked concoctions including Mango Mojitos and Watermelon Cosmopolitans, decorated with jaunty flourishes of exotic flowers. But this haunt’s leather-topped bar is also manned by a mixologist who’s ready to cater to guests’ varied palettes with custom brews. And delectable bar snacks are miniaturised versions of the treats on offer in the main restaurant, including hot and crispy samosas and bhajias. Pukka Bar has its eye on the business crowd, as well as those in search of a chic nightspot: coffees, juices and a carefully selected lunch menu of lighter choices make it firmly daytime appropriate. But the luxurious, laidback setting makes it a distinctly different offering to the formality of the restaurant beyond.
