Tom Aikens has an impressive reputation. He’s a chef to be reckoned with and already has a Michelin-starred gaffe in Chelsea under his belt. His latest project is a glorious outdoor venue at stately Somerset House with views over the Thames. The location is spectacular; under a stylish white canopy people sip champagne and cocktails it’s all ever so chic. Thanks to Aikens the food is superb, though designed more for snacking than for a full on lingering dinner. There are delectable salads and some triple cooked truffle chips that are seriously wow-worthy. Desserts include British summer favourites like Eton Mess. Prices err on the steep side but the setting more than makes up for it (provided the weather stays nice).
