Be At One Piccadilly Circus
May 11, 2018
There are few locations better in London for weary shoppers or theatre-going tourists than Piccadilly Circus, which is probably exactly why Be At One chose to base one of their classic bars there. The perfect place to pop in for a pre-show cocktail, Be At One Piccadilly Circus actually has a fairly impressive claim to fame: it’s housed within the former Red Lion Pub, which was apparently frequented by Karl Marx while writing his communist manifesto. It’s unlikely you’ll rub shoulders with a world-famous philosopher during your visit these days, but at least you can enjoy a fun and fruity cocktail or two.
Speaking of, the cocktail list at Be At One Piccadilly Circus is immense. We’ve seen many a long cocktail list in our time, but this one really takes the biscuit (or bellini, as the case may be). There’s everything from classic libations like martinis, daiquiris and mai tais to modern concoctions and signature tipples. A few of our favorites are the Tang Dynasty (gin, French aperitif wine, yuzu, tea and egg white), the You So Sake (plum sake, aged whisky and rhubarb bitters) and the Tijuana Tango (mezcal, black raspberry liqueur, lime juice, raspberry puree, cranberry juice and agave), but we would be here all day if we tried to reel off the full repertoire. You’ll notice that there’s no beer pumps in this bar, and that’s because Be At One Piccadilly Circus focuses almost entirely on cocktails. Which, despite its rather touristy location and pub-beginnings, is a pleasant change for this part of town.
