Stylish and Shepherd’s Bush aren’t words that often land in the same sentence. But, in the Defectors Weld, this less than glam area of west London has a real gem. Moody and modern, this two-storey bar on the corner of SheBu Green is decorated with large, arty photos and retro orange lampshades; a disused fireplace and dim lighting. Downstairs things can get pretty packed, especially on the weekends, and this along with some pounding sounds, can make it pretty wild. However you can always escape to the cozier candlelit upstairs bar if you need room to breathe. There’s a wide range of beers on tap and better than average pub grub, including some top notch pies. The crowd is lively, young and smart, people winding down after work and pre-gig punters readying themselves for a night at the Empire.
