Located in an historic building on Cromwell Road that used to be, at various times, a gambling den and a venue for Jimi Hendrix’s first UK concert. Now it’s an exclusive restaurant set over a private club and bar and spread over three splendidly upholstered floors. Base yourself in the open-air slide bar and garden that’s open for brunch; or a funky main lounge with wood floors, blue and red designer sofas and charcoal etchings on the wall. There’s another private downstairs room which can be hired for private parties and film screenings. Needless to say the cocktails on all levels are outstanding. Try their SW7 special which is Tanqueray, mint leaves, lime juice, caster sugar, sugar syrup, soda water, or the exceedingly dangerous Flaming Mo: over-proof white rum, Wild Turkey, Green Chartreuse, Stoly Blue, Absinthe, orange and lemon juice, sugar syrup, grenadine. And then call in the fire engines.
