The rooftop bar at the Trafalgar Hotel boasts one of the best views of any bar in the capital. What it lacks in height it makes up with its proximity to Trafalgar Square, to the famous fountains, and the rooftops of the National Gallery and St Martin-in-the-Fields. The space has been recently expanded and now boasts a vast decked area lit by fairy lights. There are moveable heaters to take the edge of the chill (this is London after all) but the terrace is otherwise at the mercy of the elements and opens only if the weather allows for it. The site of the sun setting with Nelson’s Column and the London Eye silhouetted against the sky make the perfect accompaniment to any cocktail. Drinks are well-made if slightly pricey and there’s a small cover charge to gain entry to the space, but for views like these, it’s worth it.
