Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis’s restaurant and bar, though somewhat hidden away in an industrial space in the heart of the Arts District, has proved one of the most popular spots in town. Why? Well its rustic Italian menu, with an emphasis on seasonality, constantly delivers the goods. It might not be the most innovative place in town but these guys do what they do incredibly well. Meat is a big deal here but they also serve pizzas and super house-made pasta. Their cocktail program is just as satisfying . The aptly named Refreshing is spritzy mix of Campari, Cocchi Americano, lime juice. cane sugar, and seltzer, while the Teaches of Peaches is a mgnificent thing, blending amontillado sherr, pisco, Barolo Chinato, lemon juice, blueberry cinnamon syrup, and yellow peaches. The thyme-scented Appebum Granita sounds just the ticket for cooling off on a sticky city evening. Their ‘Coffee and Donuts’ dessert is worth the extra waiting time it takes to make it. The space is white-walled with a lacing of exposed ducts and pipes on the ceiling, but warm and convivial despite that.
