With so many L.A bars following a set template of tick-box chic, it’s refreshing to find a place that’s so, well, bats. Little Cave is kind of a dive, but in the best possible sense. It’s friendly, chilled and devoid of the pretentiousness that can taint more obviously stylish spots. Inside this Eastside neighbourhood bar it’s like Halloween every day of the week, with dangling bats and foam rocks creating an intentionally kitschy cave-like feel. Though the bartenders are not averse to putting on a show when mixing drinks, the service is pretty sharp; the crowd is a mixture of Goth types drinking black vodka cocktails and Hollywood cool kids trying to be edgy.
