There’s something about a dark bar with intimate booths and cosy nooks that reminds us of the golden age of Hollywood and The Well is this with a twist. It’s sleek and stylish but still friendly, the perfect combination. Communal cushion seating against one wall encourages conversation with strangers and the jukebox is cleverly set to a volume low enough to encourage such chit chat. The disc selection runs the gamut from show tunes to hip hop which ideally suits the mix of hipsters, after-work drinkers and Hollywood players who make this home. In short, they’ve covered all bases. Drinks feature classic Cosmos, martinis and Mojitos, and finger snacks fill the hunger gap. Next door is the less upmarket but equally cool Daddy’s, which you might want to turn to if the queue to get in here is too long or if the blonde in the cowboy hat in the next door booth turns down your advances.
