With its proper longform name being ‘Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar’, you can rest assured that you are in for a unique taste of the American South at Doc Crow’s. Situated in the heart of Louisville’s historic and happening Whiskey Row district, Doc Crow’s brilliantly brings together traditional Southern seafood and barbecue with Kentucky’s favorite spirit: bourbon.Like a true Southern gentleman, Doc Crow’s welcomes all graciously. Upon entering the venue, you are greeted with wood-planked flooring, elegant hanging bulbous lights, and a weathered brick wall covered in a vintage distillery advertisement. The smokehouse portion of Doc Crow’s wafts to the surface in the form a supper menu home to some of the best barbecue in town (think baby-back ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket slathered in sweet and sticky sauce) and is complimented by that quintessential speciality of the Southern coast: a raw bar. Their raw bar serves up the finest oysters from all over North America, personally selected for their quality. When it comes time for a sip of bourbon, Doc Crow’s stocks a staggering amount of bottles (enough to compete with the finest bourbon bars in the city), but it’s the cocktails that are blended with bourbon that we especially love. A couple of our favorites are the 5th Floor Gold Mine – premium bourbon, ginger syrup, lemon juice, and sparkling wine – and the Man On Fire – premium bourbon, apricot brandy, lemon juice, and habanero shrub.
