Late Night Drinking

Bourbon abounds at this modern honky-tonk. You’ll struggle to find a better selection in the city. This neon-bedecked former firehouse in Clifton is more of an upscale, affectionate take on a dive rather than the real deal. Vinyl records play in the background and the vibe is lively and loud. The room is full of inviting booths made from wood taken from the Old Crow Distillery near Frankfort. In the summer they open up the old engine-house doors creating an indoor-outdoor vibe which is really appealing.
And the food, man, you need to try the food. Their take on down-home classics is all kinds of excellent and the chicken and waffles are rightly famous. There are cornbread pancakes, fried oyster sandwich, chilli cheese hash browns and a super-sloppy sloppy joe. Cocktails include the Old Rough and Ready, made with Old Forester Signature, Quills Cold Brew Coffee, demerara syrup , vanilla bean syrup, root beer bitters and lemon oil, and a note-perfect Mint Julep. There’s a great range of ‘working class’ lager and as well as Falls City Pale Ale on tap. And did we mention all that bourbon?
