38 Lounge @ Altira
May 11, 2018
With its rooftop terrace offering sweeping views of the Macau Peninsula below, 38 Lounge puts on two distinctly beautiful faces – that of the zen-like garden space outdoors and that of the sultry plush velvet-clad interior. Aptly named after its location on the 38th level of the Altira Hotel, 38 Lounge is the ideal venue for any evening out. A chilled-out vibe with accents of lush greenery and plenty of stone and wood entices many guests out onto the roof terrace to enjoy drinks with a spectacular view, while the large interior bar plays host to live music from a regular resident DJ for a more upbeat atmosphere.
Drinks are of the fine and rare variety – plenty of champagnes, malt whiskies and cognacs to indulge in – and guests can even pay a little extra to enjoy their drink (and perhaps a cigar) in one of 38 Lounge’s private rooms. The wine list is impressive, with reds and whites from France and Australia being well-represented, but it’s the two-page list of whiskies and cognacs that will truly delight. Scotch, Irish, Japanese, Bourbon and even a Canadian whisky can all be savored in 38 Lounge, along with several specialty cocktails for those looking for something a little more fanciful. The Golden Dream is particularly interesting, with its combination of vodka, orange juice, herbal liqueur and milk, and the selection of champagne cocktails (bellinis, mimosas, et al) fits right in with the luxurious surrounds as well.
