Inspired by the sultry salons of Shanghai in the 1930s, China Rouge is an opulent red-hued nightclub and performance lounge that regularly plays host to world-class singers and dancers from around the world. Skilfully combining an art gallery, lounge bar, cabaret and nightclub in one luxurious venue, China Rouge is an exclusive members-only club that also allows admission to a select few well-presented customers upon arrival. Basically: ignore the dress code and you won’t be granted entrance.
The wow factor of China Rouge is most certainly in its interior – think Chinese lattice screens, stained glass illustrations and contemporary works of art – while the clientele are guaranteed to never be bored with a constant playbill of singers, rappers, an in-house band and even the occasional contortionist on the club’s stage.
A menu of seafood-heavy supper snacks are the perfect complement to China Rouge’s signature cocktail list and premium spirits collection, while the selection of boutique wines and champagnes are as classy as the establishment itself. There is even a “collectibles” menu only available to VIPs that features several blue-chip vintage Bordeaux, perfect for sipping in one of the plush alcoves decked out with red velvet cushions. The crowd at China Rouge may be young and eclectic, much like the bar’s mixologists, but you won’t be able to shake the feeling that you’ve stepped back in time to a secret cabaret club in Old Shanghai.
