Neoclassical mansion in charming old district of Madrid that houses a restaurant, cocktail bar and cutting-edge club. You wouldn’t know it looking at it from the street but once inside it’s classy and cool, as if a hip young nightclub entrepreneur had linked up with a venerated art and antique collector. Regulars tend to start in the Mediterranean restaurant which does superb fish and pasta dishes, before sampling post-prandial martinis in the cocktail lounge, then heading for a spin on the dance floor. In summer though the best place to be is the garden terrace, sipping glasses of sangria under the trees. Dress smart to get in and bring your credit card. It’s not called Fortuny for nothing.
