The bar at Madrid’s Hotel Villa Magna exudes elegance. The hotel itself, recently refurbished, is a sleek, chic and undeniably luxurious place, a favourite of international business types and the more discerning mini-breaker. It’s easy to see why. The hotel’s restaurant is overseen by a Michelin-winning Basque chef and, in the Magnum Bar, it has an attractive art nouveau-inspired space, ideal for a pre-dinner cocktail (or two or three they dine late in Madrid). The bar serves a large array and, of course, champagne. The bar staff are ever so efficient in the way of high-end hotels and the place has a lovely cosmopolitan buzz, particularly in the early evening.
