In an envious location directly on Malibu Beach in sunny California, Moonshadows is a lounge bar-cum-restaurant that serves up international cuisine with a side of Pacific Ocean views. Featuring a panoramic sundeck and a hip, breezy beach house decor, people come here to soak up the sun, snack and be seen in equal measure. In true homage to the bar’s Italian owner, Moonshadows prides itself on its impressive wine list, featuring some of the best reds, whites and Champagnes from around the world, with an emphasis on those produced in the Napa Valley region. For a slight change of pace, guests can sip a selection of Japanese sakes to accompany the seafood-heavy menu served throughout the day (think oysters, lobster, crab and ahi tuna), while the impressive European ale selection is nothing to be sniffed at itself, including stalwarts such as Chimay and St Bernadus alongside La fin du Monde, a triple golden ale produced in Canada. After the sun sets, Moonshadows cranks up the heat with music spun by some of LA’s best DJs and the blue lighting of the terrace bar adds a sultry and sexy feel to proceedings. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a dolphin or two in the moonlit surf, all while planning your return for brunch the following day.
