New Guernica is like stepping into a fairy tale world far away from the buzz of Melbourne’s CBD. It’s a delightful, atmospheric space, rich in detail, with a forest pathway leading to an indoor gazebo. It’s whimsical and playful yet not overtly kitsch. They know how to mix a decent drink here too and Pimms and Appletini are available by the jug. The wine-list also hits the spot with a good selection of Australian and New Zealand wines. Music is a big deal at New Guernica and DJs play most nights. Bear in mind, you’ll need to dress the part to make it through the door they’re strict about these things.
