Despite its unappetising name, this Melbourne bar hits all the right buttons. That’s if your buttons include a weakness for 80s style drinks and a subterranean New York vibe. Located in a Lonsdale Street basement, the space is dark and basement-y. The décor extends to a few wall-scrawls making the bar itself the focal point of the room , surrounded by spirits, infusions, and all the other bits and pieces that go into making their cocktails.
Cocktails incidentally are what most people are sipping as theirs very seriously here. The bar tenders are talented and have an appreciation for the retro that doesn’t sour their innovative streak. The crowd is young but not achingly hip and the music is a refreshing mix of disco and Motown.
