FDR at Delano
May 11, 2018
Delano’s underground party venue is named for the hotel’s presidential namesake ‐ Franklin Delano Roosevelt ‐and the intimate, alluring setting epitomizes the glitz and glamour of South Beach nightlife. The hotel itself is an upscale Art Deco jewel, designed by the world‐renowned Philippe Starck. Hailed as the hotel that made South Beach cool again in the 1990s, the rich and famous continue to flock here, and its subterranean bar more than lives up to Delano’s super‐exclusive, super‐chic reputation. Set over two moodily lit rooms, FDR was created by Las Vegas’s trendy Light Group and plays host to top DJs from around the world, playing a range of music from up‐and‐coming artists to mainstream club favourites. A critically‐acclaimed cocktail list spans the suitably powerful Presidential ‐ Grey Goose Cherry Noir vodka, Red Bull, fresh lime and mint to the tantalisingly effervescent Lucy ‐ Belvedere vodka, St Germain liqueur, Chambord, lemon juice and prosecco. For a quieter, more grown‐up drinking atmosphere, head upstairs to the Rose Bar ‐ the ideal place to enjoy a cocktail and intimate chat while indulging in a spot of discreet people‐watching. Here cocktail service is offered in the Lobby Lounge and outdoor terrace and a light food menu is available from Delano’s signature restaurant, Bianca.
