A Living Room Bar is a bit of a fixture at W Hotels, but the Caribbean-inspired version at the South Beach outpost is possibly the chicest of them all.

A Living Room Bar is a bit of a fixture at W Hotels, but the Caribbean-inspired version at the South Beach outpost is possibly the chicest of them all. This is where the beautiful people and power players of Miami Beach come to meet and greet, flirt and play, and of course savour some of its very fine cocktails. Inside, guests perch at the long bar or recline on the velvet and faux fur-covered furniture, surrounded by an impressive rotating collection of contemporary art. Meanwhile the terrace outside overlooks the hotel’s beautiful pool area and is a prime people-watching spot. There’s plenty to revel in inside and out, but the real star of the show is the cocktail menu, overseen by famed mixologist and author of Artisanal Cocktails, Scott Beattie. Bartenders press a variety of exotic fruits every day, such as Lebanese pomegranate and Japanese yuzu, a citrus fruit, and then use a variety of infusions, molecular mixology and other specialist techniques to create some truly exceptional cocktails that are practically an artwork in their own right. Among the delights orchestrated by Scott Beattie are the Mango Ginger Mojito, Papaya Daiquiri and Secret Martini. These are cocktails to be sipped and relished, not thrown back, so allow yourself plenty of time to sample the menu at leisure.
