The chic but cosy Lapidus Lounge at Ritz-Carlton South Beach is a tribute to the renowned 1950s architect Morris Lapidus, the “father” of Art Deco, who designed the original hotel. Located in the hotel’s upper lobby, it’s a social hub for the Miami Beach resort, serving up an extensive menu of cocktails, featuring retro favourites like the Harvey Wall Banger and the Sidecar. Martinis are a speciality here, and there’s also a decent wine list and selection of Champagnes. Sophisticated bistro bites include ceviche and Wagyu beef sliders. And it’s all set against a back-drop of exquisite, and highly valuable, artwork. For those after an al fresco drink, the bar conveniently opens out onto the poolside deck, with cocktail service provided. A DJ is usually in situ, spinning lounge music until closing time. Live entertainment is also provided at the hotel’s Lobby Bar every Saturday from 8:30pm to 12:30am. Again, the bar is inspired by the glamour and decadence of 1950s Miami Beach, with plush seating and atmospheric lighting creating an alluring but relaxed spot to peruse the extensive wine list of selection of speciality whisky and bourbon cocktails. The perfect way to begin, or end, a night out in South Beach.
