The Bar at Château d'Artigny
May 11, 2018
A luxurious hotel in France’s Loire Valley, Château d’Artigny has garnered an international reputation as one of the most romantic stays in the region. Built by a famous perfumer in a glorious 18th Century style, the chateau and its sprawling grounds are home to opulent rooms, gorgeous gardens, and frollicking fountains that all ooze charm. Our favorite part though? Well, naturally, that would be their timeless cocktail bar.
The bar at Château d’Artigny is set inside the former library of the chateau, and it has the most exquisite of settings. Grand crown molding, towering floor-to-ceiling windows, plush armchairs, gilded portraits, and a color scheme of deep blue and glittering gold make the space feel downright regal, and a dream place to stop, sip, and savor.
A few things have changed over the years, as spirit bottles, mixers, and scores of other elixirs have taken the place of the books that once lined the walls, and an accomplished team of bartenders in sharp attire (think bowties and suspenders) now oversee the proceedings. The bar is home to a fine collection of rums, cognacs, and whiskies, in addition to a cocktail card that leans on the classics like martinis, manhattans, and an intriguing take on the Orange Blossom. When the weather is nice, the doors swing open, and you can take in a sweeping view of the valley from the bar, and we can’t think of anywhere finer in the Loire Valley to be swept away with a drink in your hand.
