The Buddha Bar is part of a glossy international chain. Each venue is luxuriously and opulently decked out with lush theatrical décor which could well be described as Asian Rococo, with richly ornate moulded ceilings and a huge three-metre tall statue of Buddha smack bang in the middle of things (a design choice some people tak issue with). The bar serves a menu of expensive but well executed cocktails, including the Royal Jasmin, made with Jasmine syrup and tea plus strawberry liqueur and Champagne, and the delicious Electric Daiquiri, a blend of cane sugar, lime juice, and Sichuan peppercorn-infused rum. If you’re hungry they serve a great array of tasty fresh sushi rolls and more elaborate, contemporary Asian fare in the bar’s handsome dining area. There’s also a glorious terrace, where people go to smoke a hookahs in the warm Mediterranean air.
