Housed in the Hôtel Nelligan, one of Montreal’s new wave of boutique hotels, Verses exudes tranquility and style. Sheltered from the urban buzz, the space is replete with leather lounge chairs and cozy nooks. The horseshoe-shaped bar is set amid atmospheric old stone walls and exhibitions by local artists are a regular feature. It’s a popular spot, especially in warmer weather when guests spill out onto the terrace over looking the Saint-Lawrence River and the city’s Old Port area. Service is friendly and efficient and the changing cocktail list is worth exploring. Food in the adjacent restaurant is equally diverting.
