A fixture on the Moscow expat scene for years, when Hudson Bar closed its doors, many in the city pondered just what their future nights out in the city would look like. Luckily, their time in the wilderness didn’t last long, as H2 (Hudson 2) has brought the spirit of the original to a slick new location.
At the new bar, there’s cool emerald green floor tiles, antique barstools, exposed beams, and brickwork galore, but it’s the fact that they have managed to duplicate the original’s flair for fun that has impressed us the most. DJs, theme party nights, and even stand-up comedy shows are commonplace at H2, and no matter how busy the place gets, one of the city’s best bartending teams holds court over the action without missing a beat. Yes, they pride themselves on constructing drinks the right way and presenting them with flair at H2, and in addition to the cocktail menu, the list of beer and spirits is full of quality choices. For many though, it’s the bar food that goes with the drinks that they come here for, as H2 is the home of many bites (think quesadillas, burgers, pizza, and pork ribs) that you just can’t get anywhere else in Moscow. A typical night at H2 is a mix of dining, drinking and dancing, and don’t be surprised if you end up spending more than one night here during your time in Moscow.
