Noor means light in Arabic and while this acclaimed bar and gallery space on Tverskaya street might not look much on the surface by day, just a stylish café with yellow walls and a vaguely Moorish air, it really comes to life in the evening and is a favourite with Moscow’s moneyed art crowd as a result. There’s a good range of drinks available; Noor specialises in malt whiskies and the barmen are skilled in making imaginative cocktails. There’s also a decent range of wines available. The décor is playful and quirky, and the globe chandeliers, cloud-effect lights and the striking blue ceiling give this place a distinctive and fun look; they also play host to a wide range of live music rather than letting the place be overtaken by pounding club beats, which is part of the reason people like it.
