Stay True Bar
May 11, 2018
This recent addition to Moscow’s nightlife scene is a joint effort by award-winning bartender Dmitry Sokolov and the legendary Ballantine’s Scotch Whisky brand. So expectations were high even before it opened at the end of 2014, and they haven’t been disappointed. The spacious venue is divided into a series of themed “zones”, so there’s something for everyone, whatever kind of night they’re looking for. The various sections include an area for live music performances, a generous bar with huge panoramic windows, and a dining room that can easily accommodate large groups out celebrating. It also has further space where it can cater for private events. The decor throughout is modern and urban, with sleek leather furniture and designer sofas against bare brick walls. The food menu is American in flavour, but draws on specialities from around the country – particularly the southern states – so there’s much more than the standard burgers and fries. But it’s the cocktail menu that really impresses here. Unsurprisingly there’s an emphasis on Scotch based drinks, but the bar also specialises in aged cocktails. It is one of the first bars in Moscow to embrace this new trend in mixology and uses barrels made from a number of different woods to add a unique flavour to classic cocktails.
