Like its Bangalore counterpart, this Leela Palace Hotel gem is a luxurious hideaway, with padded leather sofas and club chairs, parquet tables, rare marble bar, inlaid woodwork and a blending of old school Colonial-era opulence with contemporary comfort and on-the-mark service. Indoor / outdoor takes advantage of the beautiful weather and sub-tropical ambiance available attracting local young professionals and traveling business people alike. The space is small, but large enough to support a separate smoking section for cigar and whisky pairings. Sit back, pull down a leatherbound first edition tome from the actual library, and enjoy one of the deepest whisky (Scotch, bourbon, Japanese) “libraries” in India. Kebabs, sweet pan masala and other elevated “street food” small bites round out the experience. Reservations recommended on Fridays and Saturdays, appropriate attire (formal or “smart casuals”) recommended.
