Before we go any further, let’s get the most obvious enquiry out of the way first: PCO stands for ‘pass code only’, and as you may have guessed, this New Delhi speakeasy is only accessible with knowledge of the nightly passcode in hand. Does the code make things a little bit more complicated of an effort to get inside? Indeed, but this only adds to the appeal of the venue once you’re there, and we wouldn’t change a thing. Located in the vibrant Vasant Vihar area of South Delhi, the bustling city behind you fades away immediately upon entering PCO (through a vintage phone booth, naturally), as you are surrounded by touches that have become the signature of speakeasies everywhere. Yes, the decor is ‘early 20th Century chic’, featuring dim candlelight, ornately decorated chairs, bookshelves, antique telephones and vintage portraits. PCO is the place to go in Delhi for perfect classic cocktails, as they skip no steps and often use homemade bitters in their preparation. We especially love their barrel-aged cocktail line (think manhattans and negronis), which truly shows off passion for their craft in spades, as does their rotating list of specials, typically written on a chalkboard above the bar. To sweeten the pot, PCO also serves a tasty menu full of bar bites, and we can’t think of a better place to spend a night in the capital.
