A classic venue in New York City, Good Night Sonny excels at creating tantalizing cocktails and kitchen creations in a friendly all-American atmosphere.

Replacing a revered local legend is never easy, but Good Night Sonny has graciously stepped into its New York East Village location, almost immediately becoming a cherished neighborhood character in its own right.   The restaurant and cocktail bar is as classic and classy as it is comfortable, featuring an atmosphere of exposed brick, authentic family portraits from the bar’s founder, stacked bookshelves, and an antique ceiling. Our favorite touch though may just be the vintage black-and-white mosaic-style floor featuring tiles that spell out “Sonny”. When it comes time to enjoy some food and drink, Good Night Sonny doesn’t disappoint, with a menu heavy on fresh North American seafood – think oysters, clams, and mussels – and tasty sandwiches like smoked beef and pork.   If you’re like us, you may be coming here mostly for the cocktails, and they are fantastic, using both familiar and fun ingredients to put forth potions like the Sunny Orchard Margarita – premium tequila, fresh pressed green apple juice, roasted jalapeno marmalade, lime, agave & smoked cayenne salt – the Cross Eyed Bear – Navy strength rum, apple brandy, cherry flavored cordial, sweet vermouth, and bitters – and To Die Dreaming in Kentucky – bourbon, house-made orange marmalade, vanilla, lemon juice, and bitters. If you can’t decide, you could always just order a Dealer’s Choice Cocktail, where you tell the bartender a spirit and they come up with the rest of the tasty equation. As you would expect, craft brews dominate the beer list at Good Night Sonny and there is also a small handful of wines on offer. Photo credit:
