New York City-Greenpoint
May 11, 2018
This Greenpoint tapas spot with its smart marble bar and vaulted ceiling is inspired by Barcelona’s super-hip district of the same name and boasts a menu of Catalan small plates, wine and cocktails. The latter include the Gregoni, a Spanish twist on an Italian staple, mixing Campari, gin, sweet vermouth, and cava, the KaliMoxto, a blend of red wine and Mexican coke which is oddly appealing, various takes on the Spanish favourite, the Gintonic, as well as couple of Catalan vermouths, served in the traditional way with olives and orange. There’s a good range of Spanish wine, sherry and cava available too, The food menu includes loads of Spanish favourites Bravas and croquettas as well as some more unusual Catalan dishes, including quail with savoury chocolate sauce and Hudson Valley foie gras served with fresh quince. The space is stylish and urban, bare brick and flickering flame, splashes of neon and fresh flowers, with a strewing of brightly coloured cushion and bright Spanish tile in the dining room and a hip bar area up front. Dishes are attractively presented and they stock a good range of Spanish beer too.
