The Blind Barber – part of a small, hip US chain (there’s one in LA too) – is half barber shop half drinking den. Replacing Plan B, the drinking part of the equation takes the form of a cool lounge bar serving superior cocktails called things like the “Sweeney Todd” – a mix of Jameson Black Barrel, Lemon, Honey, Egg White, and Creole Bitters – and the Batman, a blend of Gin, St. Germain, Peychauds Bitters, Lemon, and Mint. The Smoke and Dagger, meanwhile, is a kicky mix of bourbon, Jalepeño Infused Cointreau, Cucumber, Ginger, and Lemon. Food includes a selection of pizzas from nearby Gnocco Restaurant. The décor is cool: old mirrors and black-leather booths paired with elegant wallpaper, a dinky backroom full of comfy sofas. While DJs stir things up in the evening, by day local barbers do their business, offering punters $40 cuts and $20 trims – and a free drink.
