About Mr. Jones
At a Glance: Cocktail Lounge, 1960s,
“Mad Men” may be over, but our fascination with the days of swaggering, cocktail-swilling gents in skinny suits continues Fully bedecked in Midcentury Modern, from sleek booths and Eames-esque seating to lightboxed “Life” and “Playboy” magazine covers from the era, the elegant space at the base of the Trump SoHo welcomes power diners and cocktail time travelers alike into its 64-seat den. Tim Cooper (Sweetwater Social, GoldBar) and Benjamin Wood (Distilled) are behind the cocktail list inspired both by classics, like the Mr. Jones Preferred Old Fashioned (bourbon, rye, Angostura bitters and demerara sugar) and originals like the Doctor Mumbai (rum, mango, lime juice, curry, ginger honey, club soda, Peychauds bitters). You’ll also find large-format drinks for sharing, including the Perennial (Absolut Elyx, pineapple juice, Averna, apricot, lime juice, cinnamon, Angostura bitters). Food, thankfully, are updated beyond the era’s cocktail weenies: choose from an international array of small bites, including merguez kofte, foie gras ravioli and crispy bao buns. The venue also has a full kitchen and state-of-the-art multimedia capabilities for private events.
