Sunsets at Jane
New York City-Lower West Manhattan
May 11, 2018
This place is a dazzler. The new rooftop joint, dubbed Sunsets, at the historic Jane Hotel is a cool and glamorous spot, sky-high in every sense. Last year this incredible space was reserved for those in-the-know and on the guest list, this year things are marginally more democratic with the bar throwing its doors open to everyone reservations are a must since it’s not the largest of bars but it compensates for that in views, with the sight of the sun setting over the Hudson River one of the most dramatic in the city. In other respects the venue has an old-school feel, it’s not aggressively modern, rather a space that exudes old fashioned class and style, with comfy wicker chairs and striped awnings, the vaguely maritime feel in keeping with the building’s history. The drinks reflect this timeless feel too, classic tipples in the main and a few with a more contemporary twist, like the Ginger Snap, a mix of rum, ginger and lime. The Lavender and White Peach Bellini is another good bet. If you want to experience one of New York’s best summertime vibes, get yourself down there and book a table.
